Count how often each number appears in your birth name. The missing numbers are your karmic lessons, the strongest is your hidden passion, and your initials show how you handle a crisis.
Enter your full birth name. Add your date of birth for the second Bridge Number and a complete karmic debt check.
Example shown: Asha Verma, born 23 July 1990. Enter your own name to calculate yours.
9 letters counted. Highlighted: your Hidden Passion. Faded: your karmic lessons.
In a crisis, stay flexible. Look for a new angle and avoid escape into excess.
The two numbers already share the same root. Your challenge is not to close a gap but to avoid excess of the same energy.
Close the gap with self-expression. Say what you feel and allow yourself to enjoy life.
Karmic debt 16 (reduces to 7): a lesson about ego. Sudden upsets can clear away pride and make room for real humility and insight.
Karmic debt 13 (reduces to 4): a lesson about work. Shortcuts tend to fail, and steady, focused effort is the way through.

In Pythagorean numerology every letter of your birth name has a value from 1 to 9. When you count how often each value appears, you get an inclusion chart: a picture of the energies your name gives you in plenty, and the ones it leaves out.
A number that never appears is called a karmic lesson. It points to a quality you have had little practice with, so situations that demand it keep coming back until you learn it. A karmic lesson is not a punishment. It shows where effort brings the most growth.
Write your full birth name and give each letter its Pythagorean value: A, J and S are 1; B, K and T are 2; and so on up to I and R, which are 9. Then count how many times each value from 1 to 9 occurs.
In the example, Asha Verma has four 1s, two 4s and one each of 5, 8 and 9. The values 2, 3, 6 and 7 do not appear, so they are her karmic lessons. One is the most frequent value, so her Hidden Passion is 1. Most names have one to three missing numbers; a very short name can have more.
Each card shows what a number means when it is missing from your name, when it is the most frequent value, and when it is your Balance Number.
The value that appears most often in your name is your Hidden Passion. It describes a talent you have in concentrated form, often something you are drawn to again and again, at work or as a hobby.
If two or more values tie for first place, you have more than one Hidden Passion. A very strong Hidden Passion, for example five or six of the same value in a short name, can become an obsession, so numerologists advise using it consciously.
Your Balance Number comes from the initials of your full name. Add the values of the first letter of each name and reduce the total to a single digit. Asha Verma’s initials are A (1) and V (4), so her Balance Number is 5.
The Balance Number describes the best way to respond when life is difficult: a sudden loss, an argument or a period of stress. It is advice for hard times rather than a description of your character.
A Bridge Number is the difference between two of your core numbers, after master numbers are taken at their root. It shows the quality that helps you close the gap between two sides of yourself.
This calculator gives two bridges. The first links your Soul Urge (what you want inside) with your Personality (how others see you). The second links your Life Path with your Expression Number, and needs your date of birth. A bridge of 0 means the two numbers already share the same root.
Karmic lessons come from missing numbers. Karmic debt is different: it appears when a core number passes through 13, 14, 16 or 19 before its final reduction. The calculator checks your Expression, Soul Urge and Personality Numbers and, if you give your date of birth, your Life Path and Birth Day as well. It also lists any master numbers it finds.

No. A missing number simply shows a quality you have had less practice with. Many people find that working on their karmic lessons becomes a source of real growth.
Karmic lessons are numbers missing from your name. Karmic debt numbers, 13, 14, 16 and 19, appear when a core number passes through them during reduction. The first shows a gap in experience, the second a pattern to correct.
Your core karmic lessons come from your birth name and do not change. A new name adds its own energy, so you can calculate it separately to see which gaps it fills.
When two or more values tie for the highest count, all of them are Hidden Passions. You are likely to have strong talents in each area.
Every part separated by a space or a hyphen counts as its own name. Jean-Baptiste Martin therefore has three names: each is reduced on its own, and its first letter counts as an initial for the Balance Number. If your family treats a compound name as one word, type it without the hyphen.
