Psychic Numbers 1–9

The Psychic Number is called Mulank in Sanskrit, literally “root number”. It is the oldest and most personal number in Vedic numerology, and it is found by reducing the day of your birth to a single digit: someone born on the 14th adds 1 + 4 to get Psychic Number 5, while someone born on the 30th adds 3 + 0 to get Psychic Number 3. Because it comes from the day alone, many people share it — yet each Psychic Number describes a strikingly recognisable temperament.

Each of the nine Psychic Numbers is linked to a planet. The Sun gives Psychic Number 1 its leadership, the Moon gives 2 its sensitivity, Jupiter gives 3 its wisdom, Rahu gives 4 its originality, Mercury gives 5 its quick mind, Venus gives 6 its love of beauty, Ketu gives 7 its depth, Saturn gives 8 its endurance and Mars gives 9 its courage. Your Psychic Number is especially visible in your instinctive reactions, your friendships and the first half of your life.

Every profile below covers personality, strengths and growth areas, career ideas, love and relationships, wellbeing habits, and the colours, days and gems that tradition associates with the number.
